EVALUATION & REFLECTION

Week 1

During the first week, I spent the whole week carrying out primary and secondary research in the form of an experimental time-lapse and and research on a time-lapse photographers.

Week 2

During the second week, I shot an experimental time-lapse using my phone with a rotating timer. I also shot a main time-lapse on my DSLR which took some time to set up and was a pain especially with the tripod, which kept falling and not standing straight but in the end I fixed the issue and captured 751 JPEG images. Later in the second week, I edited the images to my desires and what I thought would make it look best. The next day, I used photoshop to create the time-lapse.

Week 3

During the third week, I shot two experimental time-lapses using my phone and I also shot a main time-lapse on my DSLR which was time consuming. I captured 644 JPEG images. I edited these images the next day. The day after I created the time-lapse in Photoshop.

Week 4

During the fourth week, I shot two main time-lapses and one experimental time-lapse, I shot the experimental using my DSLR and the two main shoots on a borrowed camera from college. This week I found the most stressful of them all due to the fact that I faced many problems and also the fact that I had to edit and export three different shoots. I captured 842 JPEG images in total from the two main shoots.

Week 5

During the fifth week, I shot two main time-lapses using my Nikon D5300 DSLR. I found this week to be quite straight forward in comparison to last week because I had planned in my head what I was going to do, how and where. I did not face any issues at all. I captured 1787 RAW images in total from the two shoots.

Week 6

During the sixth week, I shot two main time-lapses using my Nikon D5300 DSLR. I found this week to be ok. I was finding it difficult to come up with ideas for time-lapses, but in the end I had a search on the internet and I came up with the ideas for the two time-lapses that I shot. I captured 404 RAW images in total from the two shoots.

Week 7

During the seventh week, I shot three time-lapses using my Nikon D5300 and a borrowed camera from college, the Nikon D5100. This week was pretty straight forward an was pretty enjoyable.

Week 8

During the eighth week I shot one time-lapse and I produce my final piece which can be found here on my blog.

FINAL PIECE PLAN

The plan for my Final Major Project is to gather the best short time-lapses that I have shot over the past eight weeks including experimental and main shoots and compile them into one compilation featuring a chosen piece of music that I think best suits my final piece. I am going to present my work in the college exhibition on a powerful enough computer that can show my final piece titled 'INPERCEIVABLE CHANGES BY THE NAKED EYE' I am going to make sure that the computer monitors are clean so that my final piece can be seen without any imperfections or dirt on the screen.

PRACTICALS SKILLS

Time-lapse 1 (Week 2) This time-lapse was shot with a shutter speed of 1/500's at f11 with the ISO at 100.  I left the camera shooting at an interval of 3 seconds for about 40 minutes with 751 images having been shot. I imported all the images into Lightroom classic cc and used the sync button in order to allow for all changes that I make to one image, to be applied to all the images that Imported into the catalog. I started editing all the images by, increasing the contrast to +22 to really make the clouds stand out. I then decreased the shadows to -65 to lighten the areas of the images that had too much shadow. I increased the whites slightly to +33 which brightened parts of the images. I lowered the blacks to -13 in order to lighten some areas which I thought were too dark. Upping the clarity to +31, made the smaller details within the images, really pop. increasing the vibrance to +33 made the colours more eye catching. I then upped the saturation to +54. After t...

PROBLEM SOLVING

My own experimental shoots (DSLR & Mobile) DSLR: Holy Grail This time-lapse was shot with a shutter speed of 1/400's at f7.1 with the ISO at 400. I left the camera shooting at an interval of 3 seconds for about 40 minutes with 468 images having been shot. I imported all the images into Lightroom classic cc and used the sync button in order to allow for all changes that I make to one image, to be applied to all the images that Imported into the catalog. I started editing all of the images by increasing the c ontrast to +44 which increased the contrast between the blue sky and the different clouds that can be seen.  I then upped the s hadows to +75. This brightened the trees in the foreground so you can see the details a lot more clearly such as the flowers and leaves on the trees. Next, I increased the c larity to +15. This made the smaller details in the sky and the foreground really pop and stand out. I then used the d ehaze tool which I se to +2 which really showe...
